Spring 2026 Meeting Minutes
LADIES Interclub Tennis League
Tuesday, February 23, 2026
Sally McClanahan called the meeting to order at 9:30, welcomed everyone and introduced new board members and handed over the gavel to the new president Meredith Vinson. Betty Austin was then called on to bless the food and the meeting began. Secretary Selina Maddox, with the help of Betty Austin, called roll and the following were in attendance; Brook Highland Racquet Club, Country Club of Birmingham, Gardendale Tennis, Greystone CC, Highland RC, Homewood Park, Hoover CC, Inverness CC, Levite Jewish Community Center, Life Time, Mountain Brook Club, Old Overton CC, Pelham RC, Pine Tree CC, Riverchase CC, Trussville RC, YMCA Greystone, YMCA Mountain Brook, A motion was asked to approve the minutes from the Fall meeting and a motion was made, seconded and approved.
There was a brief discussion regarding the change of venue to Pelham Racquet club for the Rep meeting (pervious meetings had been held at Another Broken Egg) Sally welcomed any feedback regarding this change. Breakfast was for this meeting was catered by Biscuit Belly.
Betty Austin then gave the Treasurer’s report. In summary $2,400 were spent on prizes $5,270 was deposited for Spring leaving a balance of $9,420.61. A motion was made to approve the report, it was seconded and approved.
Annemarie Wilson gave a scheduling update, and graciously thanked Nancy Thomas, LaVonda Keel and Sally McClanahan for all their help and assistance. There are 46 tennis teams this season down by one team from Spring 2025. Annemarie went on to explain how BYEs are implemented. If you have an uneven number of teams in your division you will have a bye. All teams will have a bye the week March 23rd. .Pickleball has 8 teams and Inverness will now have a Pickleball team this season. Ethics chair Sally McClanahan gave an update that several players were moved down.
Move downs and Stats winners are posted on the website.
Janet Simonetti gave a report regarding the Pickleball division. There will be 8 teams this season with play starting the week of March 2. There was discussion regarding the desire to form their own Pickleball committee under the umbrella of LITL. Janet and Heather are currently working on Pickleball rule book and would like to have it completed by summer. Playing pickleball matches if a home team does not have 3 courts,2 are played at the home courts and the 3rd court is played at the visitors court to complete the match.
De Carroll then announced the winners from the Fall. Prizes for the winners were cups and prizes for the runners up were bags. Prizes for the Pickleball winners were also bags.
AnneMarie then gave the Susan Briggs Tournament report. It was the 13th year of the tournament and they had 99 players. The tournament was held at Inverness Country Club and will be held there again this year August 24, 25 & 26, 2026. The event was a great success and the committee is working with Restoration Academy to helping with tennis program in addition to awarding an individual scholarship.
Sally McClanahan went over some new business and discussed the format regarding playing a third set ten break in lieu of a third set:
If two courts of the three have already won their courts(the match winner has already been determined) The remaining court may opt to play a 10 Coman tie break in lieu of a 3rd set-if all four players on the court are in agreement to play the tiebreak. The score will be entered on the website 7/6 in favor of the team winning the tie break.
As there was no additional new business the meeting was adjourned.
